Michael Bierut recap
From watching Michael's take on how to think like a designer, I found a lot of enjoyable facts and interesting new perspectives. I particularly enjoyed how he broke down the basic understanding of a design product and walked the audience through the thought process of creation, and the various approaches he took to accomplish the product. I particularly enjoy how he talked about the fashion store and the art museum in New York. It's from watching the journey of creating interesting yet very simple designs that inspire me to become a designer myself. From observing small elements of an image or a typeface, or the surroundings and architectural elements involved, ideas of design can come from anything with the right attitude of imagination. Not only is the process of design a unique quality that stood out to me in the video, but the fact that design counts and makes a huge difference in the world we live in today. From the error of the voting ballot mentioned in the beginning, to the end where the school librarian found a mural on the wall as a form of ritual to bring life to her job. Design is easily overlooked but makes large impacts on today's world.
